Lil Wayne, a self-described workaholic, has revealed that he doesn’t sleep because he works too much. The rapper’s confession came during an appearance on the “Friends Keep Secrets” podcast, where he opened up about his relentless work ethic.
Wayne lives an almost entirely nocturnal existence. He has previously explained that his schedule is completely reversed, he stays up all night working in the studio and doesn’t go to bed. In a 2012 interview, he explained his drive simply: “The reason why I don’t sleep is because of me. I don’t have to. It’s natural”.
The rapper’s workaholic tendencies have been well-documented. He once recorded 53 songs in a single night. Even during an eight-month stint at Rikers Island in 2010, Wayne found a way to keep working, recording music over the phone from his cell and tapping out beats on a table.
