One of Saturday Night Live’s most versatile stars is officially saying goodbye to Studio 8H. Chloe Fineman, who has kept audiences laughing with her masterclass celebrity impressions since 2019, announced on Thursday, July 16, 2026, that she is departing the long-running sketch comedy show.
The 37-year-old beloved television actress confirmed the news herself via a heartfelt, nostalgic Instagram post, sharing behind-the-scenes memories from her seven seasons on the show.
Fineman, who originally joined the cast as a featured player for Season 45, quickly became a fan favorite for her incredibly sharp, viral impressions of everyone from Britney Spears and Drew Barrymore to Jojo Siwa and Timothée Chalamet. Reflecting on her decision to leave, she expressed deep gratitude for her time on the late-night giant.
“After 7 wonderful seasons at SNL, I have decided it’s time for my next chapter,” Fineman wrote. “It’s cliché to say this, but working at SNL has been the greatest privilege of my life. I still can’t really believe I got to be a part of it. It’s really hard to leave SNL, but it does feel like the right time.”
In her farewell message, Fineman also shared a lighthearted and relatable observation about the intense, pressure-cooker environment of the legendary weekly show.
“I’m definitely not the first to make this observation but it really is funny looking back at it all now, because at the show you get so invested in everything you work on,” she laughed. “You sob uncontrollably when your sketch isn’t picked. You storm into a producer’s office telling them they just made the biggest mistake of their lives. And then you look back a few years later and it was a sketch called ‘Lipstick for Thicc Dogs’.”
She jokingly added, “And I swear to God, one day, sometime in the future, they WILL make lipstick for thicc dogs.”
While late-night fans are undoubtedly heartbroken to see her go, Fineman’s career outside of Studio 8H is already booming. The actress who has recently appeared in films like Megalopolis is reportedly pivotting toward drama. She is currently in talks to join the upcoming Netflix adaptation of Harlan Coben’s Myron Bolitar, starring alongside KJ Apa and Colin Woodell.
