Another beloved Hollywood marriage is quietly coming to an close. Emmy-winning Ozark and Inventing Anna star Julia Garner and her husband, Foster the People frontman Mark Foster, have officially separated. Multiple sources have confirmed that the beloved television actress and her musician partner decided to go their separate ways, ending their six-year run as one of indie entertainment’s favorite power couples.
While representatives for the 32-year-old actress and the 42-year-old “Pumped Up Kicks” singer have not yet released official statements, insiders close to the couple report that the separation was amicable. The news follows months of quiet speculation among fan circles after the award-winning actress was spotted traveling in both Paris and Los Angeles without her signature wedding ring.
The duo first crossed paths back in 2013 outside the Eccles Theater during the Sundance Film Festival, but their romance didn’t officially ignite until years later. After reconnecting on Instagram, they began dating and eventually got engaged in 2019 during a trip to Montana. Foster famously popped the question by reading an original poem he wrote specifically for her.
They tied the knot in December 2019 in a highly private, ultra-chic ceremony at New York City Hall—a direct homage to Garner’s parents, who had married at the exact same location forty years prior. For their first dance, Foster even surprised his new bride by writing, producing, and performing an original love song titled “Lovers in a Stream”.
