Vicki Gunvalson is firing back. The “Real Housewives of Orange County” OG has filed a lawsuit against financial advisor Gary Vyneman and his company, alleging he defamed her and cost her a significant amount of money. According to court documents, Vyneman allegedly badmouthed Gunvalson to a mutual client, Diane Field, convincing her that Gunvalson had given suspicious financial advice. Field then sued Gunvalson for millions over financial elder abuse claims, claims Gunvalson says are built entirely on lies.
The countersuit claims Vyneman’s false statements caused Field to believe she had been wronged, leading to a lawsuit that Gunvalson says has damaged her reputation and cost her future business. Gunvalson maintains she made all the right decisions when it came to Field’s money and denies any wrongdoing. The “RHOC” star is now seeking unspecified damages for what she describes as a calculated attack on her professional standing.
The original lawsuit, filed by Field in May 2024, accused Gunvalson and her business partner of financial elder abuse, alleging they misled the 74-year-old widow into purchasing unsuitable annuities and life insurance policies. Field claimed she paid $1 million in premiums after being told it was a one-time deal. Gunvalson’s legal team has strongly denied those allegations, stating she “vehemently denies each and every allegation” and remains “committed to the highest standards of integrity and transparency”.
This isn’t the first legal battle over Gunvalson’s insurance work. She faced a similar lawsuit in 2018 from an 82-year-old client, which was later dismissed . But this time, Gunvalson is going on the offensive. Her countersuit against Vyneman signals a shift in strategy, one that aims to prove she’s the victim, not the villain. The case continues to unfold as both sides prepare for what could be a messy legal showdown.
