The witches are back. “American Horror Story” Season 13 officially premieres Thursday, September 24 on FX and Hulu, bringing together one of the most star-studded casts in the anthology’s history. The season serves as a continuation of the fan-favorite “Coven” storyline, with an ensemble that reads like a who’s who of the franchise’s most beloved performers.
Returning to the coven are Sarah Paulson, Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, and Evan Peters. Joining them is Grammy winner Ariana Grande, marking her debut in the AHS universe and a reunion with series creator Ryan Murphy after their work on “Scream Queens.” Lange’s return is particularly notable, as the two-time Oscar winner had previously insisted she was done with the franchise after 2018’s “Apocalypse.”
The new season picks up where “Coven” left off, with the witches of Robichaux Academy facing new threats. Set photos have confirmed Paulson and Roberts reprising their “Coven” characters, and speculation is swirling that the season may finally resolve a major mystery left dangling since “Apocalypse”, the birth of a new Antichrist. The season’s official logline teases: “Light your candles, draw your pentagrams, and prepare for a supreme surprise.”
With production already underway and a September premiere locked in, the 13th season is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated installments in the franchise’s history. All previous seasons are streaming on Hulu.
