Charlie Sheen has reached an agreement with his ex-wife Brooke Mueller to pay $500,000 in back child support, settling a bitter dispute that began when she claimed he owed more than $15 million in unpaid support and interest for their 16-year-old twin sons, Max and Bob. Under the deal, Sheen will pay $250,000 by July 10, with the remaining $250,000 due by September 1. The payment covers child support arrangements and interest from March 2011 through July 2026. Starting July 1, each parent will cover expenses while the children are in their custody.
The dispute dates back to December 2025 when Mueller filed court documents alleging the “Two and a Half Men” star owed $8,967,600 in unpaid child support plus $6,418,643 in interest. She claimed Sheen made full payments through June 2011 but then sent only partial payments or none at all for years. Court records show Sheen was ordered to pay $55,000 per month following their divorce, but Mueller alleged she received no payments between 2012 and 2015 and again from 2019 through 2022. Sheen’s representative pushed back, noting Mueller’s long history of rehab stays and stating Sheen had “100% custody of the kids.”
The legal battle took an unexpected turn when Mueller requested a postponement of the February 2026 hearing, with both exes agreeing to meet privately to resolve the matter. Their custody arrangement had been modified in 2024, granting Sheen sole custody if Mueller relapsed. Despite the contentious history, Mueller had previously praised Sheen’s support during her struggles, calling him a “responsible protector” and saying their coparenting relationship was “fantastic.”
The settlement finally closes a chapter in one of Hollywood’s most drawn-out post-divorce sagas. While the $500,000 agreement is significantly less than Mueller’s original $15 million demand, it marks a pragmatic resolution for both parties. The twin sons remain at the center of their parents’ lives, with the agreement shifting each parent to cover expenses during their respective custodial time.
