Tate Paul, the ex-husband of “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Taylor Frankie Paul, has filed for a restraining order against the reality personality and is seeking sole custody of their two children. The filing came Tuesday in a Utah court as part of the former couple’s ongoing divorce proceedings.

According to legal documents obtained, Tate submitted a declaration along with five exhibits in support of his request. All filings have been placed under seal, leaving the specific reasons for the restraining order petition unclear.

The action marks the second time a former partner has sought a restraining order against Taylor. Her more recent ex, Dakota Mortensen, has an active protective order against her stemming from a series of domestic violence allegations that have played out in court throughout 2026.

A source close to Taylor claims the new petition is “a direct result” of Dakota “telling Tate lies about her,” adding that “she feels Dakota will do anything to hurt her… including using the children”. The couple’s post-divorce relationship has been frequently scrutinized, with both parties navigating co-parenting challenges since their 2022 split.

Taylor and Tate share two children: daughter Indy, 8, and son Ocean, 6. The filing comes as Taylor prepares for the potential release of her shelved season of “The Bachelorette” and as her custody battle with Dakota Mortensen continues, with a hearing scheduled for July 8.

The case now heads to court, where a judge will weigh the sealed evidence and determine whether the restraining order and sole custody request will be granted.
