Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid have ended their relationship after more than ten years together, according to reports. The Friends star and the Snow Patrol musician quietly went their separate ways late last year, with sources describing the split as entirely amicable.
The couple had reached a point where they were living increasingly separate lives, according to friends close to them. Cox, 62, is based in Los Angeles, while McDaid, 49, has been mostly based in London, though they had tended to split their time between the US and the UK.
A source told the Mail on Sunday: “Johnny speaks incredibly highly of Courteney. They had a very deep relationship and they remain extremely amicable. They are great friends and care about each other very much. This was not an ugly split”.
The couple first met at a star-studded party Cox hosted in 2013. Ed Sheeran brought along his Snow Patrol bandmates, including McDaid and Gary Lightbody . Cox revealed the story on Howard Stern’s radio show in 2022, explaining that Sacha Baron Cohen made the introduction by saying, “Courteney wants to f— one of you from Snow Patrol. And it’s not you, Gary”.
The pair got engaged in June 2014 after just six months of dating . However, they called it off in late 2015 after reportedly having problems for a long time . They reconciled in March 2016 and remained together until recently. Cox later clarified they were no longer planning a wedding, and she never wore an engagement ring again following their reconciliation.
Since the split, both have reportedly moved on. McDaid is understood to be in the early stages of a new relationship. Cox was recently spotted in New York with her Shining Vale co-star Greg Kinnear, though sources say they are just good friends.
