Hollywood Boulevard came to a standstill Monday morning. David Beckham received the 2,798th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a ceremony that blended sports royalty, fashion iconography, and genuine family emotion.

The 51-year-old former soccer captain now stands permanently immortalized at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard, just steps from the venues that have hosted the FIFA World Cup 2026 matches.

The David Beckham Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony drew an A-list crowd. His wife Victoria Beckham stood front and center, wearing a sleek navy pantsuit and barely holding back tears. Their children. Harper, 14, Cruz, 21, and Romeo, 23, flanked her. Brooklyn, 27, was notably absent due to prior work commitments.

Tom Cruise, Beckham’s longtime friend of over two decades, delivered a surprise speech. The “Mission: Impossible” star joked about Beckham’s move to LA in 2007 to play for the LA Galaxy. “People asked me, ‘Why is the most famous soccer player in the world coming to America?’ I said, ‘Because he wants to be a movie star.’ And then he just became the most famous soccer player in America instead.”

The star ceremony 2026 marked Beckham’s first major public appearance since his Inter Miami CF won the MLS Cup last December. Cruise praised Beckham’s work ethic, recalling how the two would train together at 6 a.m. “He never took a day off. Not one.”

Beckham spoke for 12 minutes, his voice cracking multiple times. He thanked his parents, Sandra and David Beckham Sr., who flew in from London. He thanked his former managers Sir Alex Ferguson and Fabio Capello. But his longest pause came when he turned to Victoria.

“Twenty-seven years ago, I met a woman in a car park at a Manchester United match,” Beckham said, tears forming. “She had on the most incredible outfit. I was terrified to speak to her. She’s still terrifying. But she’s also the reason I’m standing here.”

He also addressed his children directly. “I wanted you to be proud of me. Not for the trophies. For showing up. For working hard. For loving your mother.”

The David Beckham Hollywood Walk of Fame star will sit near those of Muhammad Ali and Michael Jackson. Beckham ends the year as a minority owner of Inter Miami, a UNESCO ambassador, and now, a permanent fixture on the most famous sidewalk in the world.
