Diddy demands medical records from music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, who is suing the hip-hop mogul for sexual assault. The request is part of an escalating legal battle that has drawn in unexpected names.
According to court documents, Diddy argues that he should not have to produce extensive documents or answer questions for Jones. He describes the accuser’s discovery requests as abusive and improper. At the center of the dispute? Medical records that Jones allegedly failed to turn over.
Diddy claims Jones was supposed to sign a release for his medical records back in November. But the release provided did not comply with federal privacy regulations. Now, Diddy medical records demand is formally before the court.
In the same filing, Diddy also pushes back against questions about actor Cuba Gooding Jr. Jones previously claimed that Gooding was involved in one of the alleged assaults aboard Diddy’s yacht. Diddy’s legal team says seeking information about third parties like Gooding is improper.
As previously reported, Diddy has denied all allegations of wrongdoing. He calls the Lil Rod Jones lawsuit a money grab. Jones claims Diddy groped him, touched his butt, walked around naked frequently, and tried to coerce him into sex. He also alleges he was drugged and raped at Diddy’s home.
Jones is seeking $30 million in damages. However, a judge has already dismissed many of the producer’s claims. Diddy’s attorney previously called Jones a liar and a shameless headline-chaser.
The medical records fight is the latest twist. If Jones does not comply, Diddy may ask the court to sanction him or dismiss parts of the case. For now, both sides are digging in.
