Taylor Swift has done it again. The 14-time Grammy winner just announced an original country song for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 titled “I Knew It, I Knew You”, and fans only have days to wait. The track arrives June 5, two full weeks before the movie hits theaters on June 19.
Swift has been a Toy Story superfan since age five. Watching the first film in 1995 sparked a lifelong connection to Woody, Buzz, and the gang. When she got an early peek at Toy Story 5, the magic hit immediately. She wrote the song the same night.
This isn’t just any soundtrack addition. Disney confirms the original country song channels Swift’s Nashville beginnings. The track is written and produced alongside Jack Antonoff, her trusted collaborator from The Tortured Poets Department. The inspiration? Jessie, the beloved cowgirl voiced by Joan Cusack, who steps into a larger role this time.
“Her connection to Jessie was undeniable,” director Andrew Stanton shared. He describes the song as feeling “like a long-lost family member” on first listen. Pre-orders are already live on Swift’s website, including acoustic and piano versions.
The reunion comes at a perfect moment. Toy Story 5 finds Bonnie’s toys facing off against Lilypad, a disruptive new tablet. Woody, Buzz, and Jessie must fight for the future of playtime. With Swift’s voice now part of that fight, June 19 can’t come soon enough.
