Legendary music executive Clive Davis has been admitted to a New York City hospital. The 94-year-old is being treated for an upper respiratory infection and is expected to be released within a day.
A representative for the iconic industry figure confirmed the hospitalization occurred Friday evening. The move was described as precautionary, with doctors choosing to admit Davis for monitoring rather than sending him home.
The music mogul Clive Davis is no stranger to health scares. In February 2021, he was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy, a condition causing temporary facial paralysis. He has continued to remain active in the industry despite these setbacks, including hosting his legendary annual Grammy Awards parties.
Davis, now 94, has maintained a remarkably public presence for decades. His representatives emphasized that this latest hospitalization is not considered life-threatening, and he is in good spirits.
For those unfamiliar, Davis shaped modern music as we know it. He discovered and guided Whitney Houston to superstardom, worked closely with Aretha Franklin, and launched Kelly Clarkson’s career after her American Idol win. He also co-founded Bad Boy Records alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted Davis in 2000 in the non-performers category. The Grammy Museum even named its 200-seat theater after him, a testament to his seismic impact on the recording industry. Fans and artists alike are now wishing him a speedy recovery as he rests in a New York hospital.
