Lamine Yamal Urges Barcelona to Sign Victor Osimhen in Summer

At just 18 years old, Yamal has become a central figure in the dressing room, and his voice carries significant weight with the club’s hierarchy. Reports from Spain suggest that Yamal has explicitly asked President Joan Laporta and Sporting Director Deco to prioritize Osimhen over other targets, such as Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez. The young winger reportedly believes that Osimhen’s physical presence and ability to stretch defenses would provide the tactical “breathing room” necessary for Barcelona’s creative players to thrive.

While the interest is high, the financial logistics remain complex. Victor Osimhen, currently under contract with Galatasaray through 2029, has been in sensational form, contributing 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances this season. To secure his services, Barcelona is reportedly preparing a bid in the region of $134 million (€115 million). However, the Turkish club has signaled they may not entertain offers below the €175 million mark. To fund such a massive acquisition, Barcelona is reportedly considering the sale of high-profile players, including Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres.

The push for Osimhen comes as Barcelona prepares for a transitional period. With Robert Lewandowski’s contract set to expire and no renewal currently in sight, the club is desperate for a long-term successor at the No. 9 position. Osimhen, now 27, represents a “prime-age” solution who could lead the line for several seasons. Despite a recent hand injury that has sidelined him for three weeks, his stock remains at an all-time high across Europe’s top clubs.
