Ciara Miller is finally speaking out. The Summer House star broke her silence on the relationship between her ex-boyfriend West Wilson and her former best friend Amanda Batula, calling the entire situation a “major mindf—k” and admitting she feels “at a loss for words.”
The scandal erupted on March 31 when Batula and Wilson released a joint Instagram statement confirming their romantic connection. Miller found out less than 24 hours before the world did. The Ciara Miller Amanda West betrayal has since divided the Bravo fanbase and left the cast questioning who they can trust.
Miller joined Summer House in season five and quickly bonded with Batula, who became a trusted confidante. “Amanda just felt like a very calm spirit initially. She was someone that I always felt comfortable talking to,” Miller recalled. “She always felt like a nonjudgmental figure to go to.”
The two grew especially close during the current season, which films as Batula’s marriage to Kyle Cooke unravels. Miller was a vocal advocate for her friend. “I’ve fought with your own husband to advocate for you. I have championed you. I have tried to be there in different ways for you,” she said.
Wilson joined Summer House in season eight and dated Miller briefly in 2023. The pair had recently been working on rebuilding their friendship. Miller invited both Wilson and Batula to her 30th birthday dinner in December. Wilson attended. Batula did not.
On March 31, Wilson and Batula posted matching statements confirming their relationship. Miller noticed something odd immediately. “There’s something about the lack of being able to say each other’s names in the statement that I found very telling,” she said.
Within minutes of the statement dropping, Miller was photographed sitting on a sidewalk outside a Hermès boutique in New York City, visibly upset. The image went viral instantly.
She later explained what happened. “I was supposed to be meeting my friend at Pastis, and it’s 12:45, and I’m like, ‘I cannot be sitting at this lunch while I’m reading this statement. I’ll lose my mind.'” Her manager came to meet her, and the photo was snapped before she could make it home. “How chic of it to be Hermès,” she joked through the pain.
When asked who hurt her more, Miller did not hesitate. “At the end of the day, a guy’s a guy. Whether or not West and I are working on a relationship, you just can’t put anything past a man,” she said. “But I just never would think that it would come from someone like Amanda, who has been in my corner for so long. I think that’s the craziest part.”
Miller said her last conversation with Batula was “minimal” and that she is saving the full discussion for the season 10 reunion.
Fans have clamored for Miller to be cast as the next lead of The Bachelorette after ABC pulled its most recent season. Her response was characteristically blunt. “F—k no. I’m way too private,” she said.
Miller explained that she has received a “lot of grief” from viewers about her dating choices on the show, she has only publicly dated two men, both white. “For people to make a really roundabout statement about my taste based on two people is annoying and frustrating. I’m trying to figure out dating. If I were a expert, don’t you think I would probably be married?”
She also addressed the unique challenges of interracial dating. “Not only do you have to figure out who this person voted for, you have to figure out, ‘Okay, you’re attracted to me, you like me, but do you like people that look like me?’ Because I’m just one person, but would you really advocate for all of us?”
For now, Miller is focused on herself. “I’m so happy being single. Honestly, I can’t imagine anyone being in my apartment. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to be single.”
