Porsha Williams Opens Up About Sway McKinney and Embracing Her Fluidity

The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star is living her truth, and she does not care what you call it. Porsha Williams recently sat down with “The Breakfast Club” to open up about her relationship with Patrice “Sway” McKinney, revealing why she refuses to box herself into traditional sexual labels.

Williams, 44, has been publicly dating McKinney since late 2025, just months after finalizing her divorce from Simon Guobadia. And while fans and media have pressed her to define her sexuality, Porsha Williams doesn’t feel pressure to label her sexuality at all.

“I’m just Porsha-Sexual,” she told Charlamagne tha god. “I’m just exploring. Now I’m Sway-Sexual”.

Williams and McKinney’s love story did not happen overnight. The pair first connected on Instagram more than eight years ago, exchanging likes and light interaction that never quite turned into anything serious.

After Williams’ divorce, McKinney’s new Instagram page appeared on her feed. Something felt familiar. A like turned into a DM, which turned into drinks with Williams’ sister Lauren. The rest unfolded naturally, without cameras or storylines.

“She lets me be me,” Williams said of McKinney. “We celebrate each other. We support each other”.

Williams has been married twice, first to Kordell Stewart, then to Simon Guobadia. She has a well-documented “three-month rule” where she would typically expect a ring by now. But with McKinney, everything is different.

“What I find with Sway is that I feel very comforted. I feel very seen, very patient,” Williams explained.

She emphasized that they are taking things “very slow” and “very soft.” She also noted that she has always been attracted to women, and with McKinney, she gets both the feminine and masculine sides of her partner.

When asked if she cares about being called a lesbian or bisexual, Williams was clear. She does not mind either term, but she does not feel the need to claim them.

“I don’t know what comes with that. I’m kind of new with all that,” she said. “But I’m not offended by it at all”.

When Charlamagne asked if this could just be a “phase,” Williams had a sharp response.

“Well, my diet changed on men too, and then I divorced them when they were not good for me as well,” she said. “Your diet could change with anything. People be under my posts like, ‘We’ll see how long this lasts’, we’ll see how long anybody’s relationships last”.

She added with a laugh: “I don’t know why it seems like I’m the first person to be gay now. I’m not the first. It’s 2026”.

McKinney appears in Season 17 of “RHOA,” marking the first time Williams has publicly featured a same-sex partner on the show. In one episode, she introduced McKinney to castmates Phaedra Parks, Angela Oakley, and Drew Sidora as her “lady friend”.

The moment even blindsided producers, but Williams was unfazed.

“I am in uncharted waters,” she said in a confessional. “You can just call me Christopher Columbus”.

Williams and McKinney remain together, moving at their own pace despite public curiosity. The reality star has made it clear that she is not interested in rushing toward marriage or defining her relationship by anyone else’s timeline.

She is happy. She is seen. And she is finally free to explore every part of herself without apology.

“I’m just doing what feels natural,” she previously told Entertainment Tonight. “I really wanted to explore that side of Porsha, and I’m glad I did because I’m really happy”.
