The Perez Hilton sepsis recovery journey has taken an emotional turn. The celebrity blogger is back on his feet after weeks of life-threatening health battles that left him unable to walk.
Hilton spent 21 days hospitalized with severe sepsis, a condition he developed after taking flu medication on an empty stomach. The mistake caused an ulcer, then a perforation, and finally sepsis. Days after being discharged, he faced another crisis.
The deep vein thrombosis surgery became necessary when Hilton experienced excruciating pain in his leg. Doctors discovered a massive blood clot running from his groin down to just below his calf. If the clot had traveled to his lungs or heart, the outcome could have been fatal.
Surgeons performed a thrombectomy to remove the blockage. Hours after the procedure, Hilton’s doctor insisted he walk to prevent blood from coagulating again. He described that first walk as the most excruciating pain of his life.
In a video shared from home, Hilton slowly walks toward the camera using a walker. He claps for himself at the end, visibly fighting back tears. “I can finally walk again,” he wrote. “The pain is still bold but manageable.”
The experience has transformed Hilton spiritually. He tearfully shared that God “presented himself” during his darkest moments in the hospital. Despite being raised Catholic, Hilton says he never considered himself a believer until now.
Every day brings improvement. Hilton continues documenting his recovery while focusing on his three children. The man who once built a career on gossip now shares a different kind of story: one of survival, faith, and learning to walk again.
