Brad Pitt Fights Angelina Jolie’s Push to Delay $164M Winery Trial

The “War of the Rosés” is reaching a boiling point as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie head back to court over the timeline of their $164 million legal war. On April 7, 2026, Pitt’s legal team filed a blistering response to Jolie’s latest motion, which seeks to push their scheduled trial back by nearly nine months. This Château Miraval legal battle update 2026 reveals a frustrated Pitt who claims the delays are preventing him from “the quiet enjoyment” of the French estate he has spent over a decade cultivating.

The trial is currently slated to begin on February 1, 2027. However, Jolie has requested a postponement until November 2027, citing a need for further discovery and the complexity of the case.

Pitt’s team has rejected this proposal, arguing that Jolie is purposefully dragging out the proceedings. “Ten years of fighting is long enough,” a source close to Pitt stated, echoing the actor’s desire to reach a resolution by the end of 2026. Pitt argues that a faster trial is essential to ensure that aging witnesses—and those currently in poor health—are still able to testify.

Central to Pitt’s urgency is his desire to return to Château Miraval, the 1,200-acre vineyard in Provence where the couple famously wed in 2014. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Pitt is eager to regain full use of the “mega-mansion,” claiming the ongoing litigation has essentially locked him out of the property’s domestic life.

The $164 million estate isn’t just a business asset; for Pitt, it represents a personal sanctuary. His legal team asserts that the “untenable” delay requested by Jolie is a strategic move to keep him in a state of professional and personal limbo regarding the property’s future.

In his filing, Pitt raised concerns about the availability of key individuals involved in the 2021 sale of Jolie’s stake to the Stoli Group. He pointed out:

• Terry Bird: Jolie’s former business manager has “unfortunately passed away,” removing a critical witness from the board.

• Illness: Another of Jolie’s attorneys is reportedly “too ill to testify,” leading Pitt to argue that any further delays could result in more lost testimony.

• Accounting Discrepancies: Pitt continues to demand “unredacted” communications from Jolie’s camp to prove she violated a verbal agreement not to sell without his consent.

Beyond the right to “chill” at the estate, the financial stakes remain astronomical. Pitt is seeking $35 million in damages, alleging that Jolie’s “vindictive” sale to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler has caused significant reputational and economic harm to the Miraval brand.

While a judge previously ordered mediation for October 28, 2026, the failure to reach a compromise has set the stage for one of the most high-profile celebrity trials of the decade. As of today, the court has not yet ruled on whether to grant Jolie’s request for a November 2027 start or keep the original February date favored by Pitt.
