Radio legend Howard Stern and his wife, Beth Stern, are at the center of a provocative new legal battle. A former executive assistant, Leslie Kuhn, has filed a lawsuit in a New York court, alleging she was wrongfully terminated after enduring a “hostile work environment.” The filings, made public on April 6, 2026, paint a chaotic picture of life inside the Sterns’ multi-million dollar mansion, citing everything from questionable accounting to untenable cat rescue operations as the catalysts for the fallout.
Kuhn, who moved into the Stern residence to manage household operations, claims her role quickly expanded far beyond traditional administrative duties. Her responsibilities reportedly included managing a large domestic staff, handling payroll, and overseeing the logistical nightmare of Beth Stern’s high-volume animal advocacy work.
While the Sterns have long been celebrated for their philanthropic efforts Beth has previously stated they fostered over 900 cats over a five-year period Kuhn describes the reality as a source of “immense pressure.” The lawsuit alleges that the untenable cat rescue operations occurring on-site created a disorganized and stressful environment that made professional household management impossible.
A central pillar of Kuhn’s lawsuit involves a disputed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Kuhn claims that following her termination, which occurred less than two years into her tenure, she was presented with a separation agreement by One Twelve, Howard’s production company.
The assistant alleges that the firm attempted to enforce an “ironclad” NDA that appeared to be backdated to before she even interviewed for the position. Most strikingly, Kuhn insists she never physically signed the document, claiming the signature is merely her name typed in a generic font. She is now asking the court to declare the NDA unenforceable so she can speak freely about her experiences.
Beyond the interpersonal tension, the lawsuit takes aim at the Sterns’ private business operations. Kuhn alleges:
• Accounting Discrepancies: The filing mentions “questionable business operations and accounting practices” regarding the household’s expenses.
• Staff Enablement: Kuhn claims the Sterns enabled a culture of hostility among the various staff members, leading to her eventual ousting.
• Termination Fallout: She asserts that her firing was a direct retaliation for raising concerns about the safety and organization of the on-site fostering.
As of Monday evening, Howard and Beth Stern have not issued a formal response to the allegations. Historically, the couple has been fiercely protective of their private life and their charitable North Shore Animal League partnerships.
Legal experts suggest that if the court finds the “typewritten” NDA signature to be fraudulent or coercive, it could open the door for a wave of behind-the-scenes revelations that the Sterns have spent decades trying to keep under wraps. For now, the King of All Media remains silent as the court prepares to review Kuhn’s claims of a toxic domestic workplace.
