Buckingham Palace is set to stage a landmark display dedicated to the wardrobe of the late monarch. Titled Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style, the Queen Elizabeth II Fashion Exhibition will open at The King’s Gallery on April 10, 2026. This unprecedented showing is timed to coincide with what would have been the Queen’s 100th birthday on April 21, solidifying the event as a grand celebration of her enduring British style legacy and sense of duty.

The massive exhibit will feature more than 200 items spanning her ten decades of life, with roughly half of the pieces having never been displayed publicly before. Highlights for the Queen Elizabeth II Fashion Exhibition include some of the most historic garments in the Royal Collection. Visitors will be able to admire her intricate 1947 Wedding Dress and the iconic 1953 Coronation Gown, both designed by her influential couturier, Norman Hartnell.

The display goes beyond ceremonial attire, offering a rare glimpse into her private wardrobe. From her off-duty riding clothes and tweed suits to diplomatically significant gowns and surprising items like a clear plastic raincoat from the 1960s, the collection charts her unique use of fashion as a tool for communication throughout her 70-year reign.

Running until October 18, 2026, the exhibition is considered one of the most significant surviving archives in modern fashion history. As tickets officially went on sale this week, the Queen Elizabeth II Fashion Exhibition promises to be a powerful testament to the monarch who understood the immense symbolism carried in every impeccably tailored piece she wore.
