Jason Momoa is keeping it blunt when it comes to his 16-year-old son Nakoa-Wolf’s big-screen debut — and he’s not sugarcoating the reality of joining Hollywood.
Nakoa-Wolf, son of Jason and Lisa Bonet, is set to play Leto II Atreides, the son of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), in the much-anticipated Dune: Part Three. But while many would expect a helping hand from his famous dad, Jason says his son is completely on his own.
“A rude awakening is what he’s in for,” Jason told Extra. “He’s into the workforce for the first time. It’s going to be good. He did it on his own.”
No Special Treatment from Dad
Jason Momoa, who is reprising his role as Duncan Idaho in the Dune franchise, made it clear that Nakoa-Wolf earned his spot in the cast without nepotism.
“I don’t want to help him, and he’s done it all on his own — and good for him.
You want your children to be better than you, and I really, actually believe he is.”
The Aquaman star added that at age 16, his son is already achieving more than he did at the same age.
“There’s no way I could sit in a room with Denis Villeneuve and hold my own.
I was on Baywatch at 19. He’s 16 and holding it down with Denis Villeneuve.”
“We Raised Him Beautiful” – Momoa on Fatherhood
Proud of his son’s confidence and independence, Jason said his goal as a parent has always been to instill self-love and strength in his children.
“We raised him beautiful. We raised our children… it’s just being loved and being confident in themselves.
That is what he is. He’s very confident.”
Jason shares Nakoa-Wolf and 17-year-old daughter Lola with actress Lisa Bonet.
Big Names and Bigger Roles in Dune: Part Three
Nakoa-Wolf will star alongside Ida Brooke, who has been cast as his twin sister Ghanima Atreides. The third installment in Denis Villeneuve’s epic adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novels will also feature returning stars:
• Zendaya as Chani
• Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica
• Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan
• Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, and Timothée Chalamet all reprise their iconic roles
• Robert Pattinson is reportedly in talks to play the villainous Scytale, a shapeshifting Face Dancer
Dune: Part Three promises to delve deeper into Dune: Messiah, continuing Paul Atreides’ saga and exploring themes of prophecy, politics, and power.
