Tom Holland may have been hard at work filming The Odyssey, but the Tottenham Hotspur faithful made sure not to miss a historic moment for his beloved club.

The 29-year-old actor revealed that he managed to sneak in the final moments of Spurs’ dramatic Europa League victory over Manchester United back in May — all while on the set of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic.

“I was shooting Chris Nolan’s movie in LA. We were not allowed our phones on set, so I was not aware of the score,” Holland told GQ. “I kept going to the sneaky crew members who I knew always had their phones and kept asking them for updates.”

Eventually, he made it to his trailer for lunch and caught the last 10 minutes of the match, just in time to see Tottenham lift their first major trophy in 17 years.

“My celebration was coming back to the set full of energy and doing a really fantastic scene,” he said.

The Spider-Man star was particularly thrilled for club captain Son Heung-Min, who finally got his hands on silverware after a decade of loyalty to the North London club.

“I was incredibly happy for Sonny. For me to see him win a trophy after years of dedication to our club… He really could have played with any club, he’s a world class player,” Holland said. “But he stuck with his roots and stayed with Tottenham. Whatever he decides to do now, he’ll always be a Tottenham legend.”

Aside from football celebrations, Holland couldn’t contain his excitement about working with Christopher Nolan on The Odyssey, which is set for release next year.

“It was amazing. The job of a lifetime, without a doubt,” he said. “Working with Chris, getting to know him and Emma [Thomas] was absolutely fantastic. I’ve never seen someone that can work the way they do — there’s a reason they’re the best in the business.”

Holland also had high praise for his co-stars, including Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway.

“Matt Damon has always been a hero of mine, Anne Hathaway has always been a hero of mine. So to share scenes with them, to learn from them, to become friends with them, I couldn’t have asked for a better job.”

He added, “I came to work every day with a real sense of purpose and a point to prove, and I’m so grateful to Chris for giving me that opportunity.”
