Wedding bells are ringing for British actress and TV favourite Emily Atack!
The 35-year-old star of The Inbetweeners fame has officially announced her engagement to longtime partner Alistair Garner—and she did it in true Emily fashion, with charm, wit, and a sparkling diamond ring.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, Emily posted a heartwarming photo of herself and Alistair, proudly showing off her engagement ring. Captioning the sweet moment with lyrics from The Cure, she wrote: “It’s Friday, I’m in love ”—a perfect nod to both the day and the man of her dreams.
Emily and Alistair, who began dating in 2022, are already parents to their adorable son, Barney, born in June 2024. Since welcoming their baby boy, the couple has continued to share glimpses of their growing family and life together, much to the delight of fans.
The engagement announcement sparked a flood of congratulations from fellow celebrities and fans alike. Former Love Island host Laura Whitmore couldn’t contain her excitement, writing: “Yassssss! Delighted for you both you cuties xxx”, while singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor dropped hearts and clapping emojis to show her love. X Factor alum Fleur East added: “Woooo! Let’s gooo!!! Congrats!”
Emily, never one to hold back, previously opened up about the emotional rollercoaster of pregnancy and motherhood, calling it a mix of “thrill, fear, joy, hysteria, topped off with a lot of vomiting.” She’s also been refreshingly candid about her journey as a new mum, even breaking down on Loose Womenwhile describing the overwhelming love she feels for her son.
“I’m not going to be a perfect parent, there’s no such thing,” she said. “But this is my chance… I want my son to grow up in a world where women are treated better.”
