Hannah Waddingham has shared a heartfelt and quirky take on the return of Ted Lasso for its highly anticipated fourth season.
The 50-year-old actress, who plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton, told Variety that revisiting the show felt like bringing back “the most beautiful, beloved dog that was buried, and now we’ve exhumed it.”
She added, “I was hankering and hankering and hankering to see where Rebecca had gone, where she was going to. She’s my girl. She’s in my bloodstream, so I’m thrilled that it’s been exhumed.”
Waddingham, who won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance in the episode All Apologies in 2021, expressed excitement about diving back into Rebecca’s world.
“I can’t wait to get involved with that and put my penneth in and go shopping for her looks,” she said, hinting at the fun of crafting her character’s style once again.
Back in March, showrunner Jason Sudeikis confirmed that Ted Lasso would return for more episodes. He teased a season where the AFC Richmond team learns to “leap before they look,” embracing uncertainty and finding their true place.
Apple TV+ has yet to announce a release date but remains “thrilled” about continuing the collaboration on the beloved series. Matt Cherniss, head of programming, called Ted Lasso “a juggernaut” that spreads kindness, compassion, and joy worldwide.
Fans eager to see the next chapter in the story of Ted Lasso and Rebecca Welton can look forward to more warmth, laughter, and heart when the show returns.
