Rita Ora is opening up about the secret behind her thriving marriage to filmmaker Taika Waititi — and according to the singer, it all comes down to mutual respect, unwavering support, and a deep friendship.

Speaking to People, the 34-year-old pop star gushed about how her relationship with the 49-year-old director remains strong three years after tying the knot in 2022.

“I think just respect and supporting each other through our own separate careers, ventures, space — and just honouring that — being support systems,” Rita explained.

Best Friends First

Before sparks flew, the couple were friends — a foundation Rita believes was crucial to their romantic success.

“Being best friends, I think, is really great,” she added.

Their strong bond has helped them navigate the demands of their high-profile careers while still making space for love, laughter, and shared moments.

Fairy Godmother Vibes

Though Rita doesn’t have biological children of her own yet, she’s thoroughly embraced her role as a stepmom to Taika’s two kids from his previous marriage to Chelsea Winstanley. And she’s leaning into the fun auntie energy.

Appearing on the Begin Again with Davina McCall podcast, Rita revealed:

“It is so fun. I just have the best time with them. I’m like the fairy godmother who gives them all the sugar and ice cream and then sends them back!”

She also shared that she once took them to an Ed Sheeran concert — even arranging a meet-and-greet with the superstar himself.

“I think that’s the fun part of being a stepmom — you can do those naughty things,” she laughed.

Embracing Her Sensuality in New Music

Outside of family life, Rita is boldly stepping into a new chapter musically. Her latest single, “Heat”, dropped last month and marks a celebration of female sexuality and empowerment.

Co-written by Troye Sivan, the track represents a stripped-back, confident new vibe for the star.

“I love his sexuality and the celebration he has with that,” she said of Sivan.

“I was really inspired for me and my womanhood to really kind of celebrate my sexuality, my sexiness, and get back into my body, you know? And this really just embodied that.”

Rita Ora is clearly thriving — as a wife, a stepmom, and a woman owning her voice and identity. Whether on stage or at home, she’s all about authentic connection, and fans are here for it.
