Jeremy Renner is opening up about how far things have come between him and ex-wife Sonni Pacheco, revealing that they now enjoy a “lovely” relationship despite the rocky past.
The Hawkeye star, 54, was married to Canadian actress and model Sonni Pacheco for just 10 months before their 2014 split. What followed were years of legal battles and public allegations — including disturbing claims from Sonni in 2019 that Renner had threatened to kill both her and himself, and had allegedly bitten their daughter Ava, now 12. Renner firmly denied all allegations at the time.
Now, in a candid interview with The Guardian’s Saturday magazine, Renner says their relationship has turned a corner — and they’re peacefully co-parenting Ava.
“We get along very well, and we’re in each other’s lives. It’s lovely,” he shared. “It’s great. She’s got a new baby and she sends me beautiful pictures.”
Past Allegations and the Strain of Public Scrutiny
Renner didn’t shy away from reflecting on the pain that came with the highly publicized accusations.
“Being accused of things you’ve not done — that doesn’t feel good to anybody,” he said. “It certainly doesn’t feel good when you’re a celebrity and it’s known to everybody.”
He continued, acknowledging how public narratives can spiral out of control:
“It’s clickbait, and it hurts my feelings and it dehumanizes people… They’re saying it for their own reasons and not for the truth. I’m used to that because I’m a public figure. I don’t read people’s reviews or comments. I don’t care. That’s not part of my life.”
When asked if he ever worried about losing custody of Ava during the legal battles, Renner brushed it off:
“That’s just lawyers talking. That’s lawyers arguing. The custody was easy.”
Focused on Family and Giving Back
Although Renner was linked romantically to fashion journalist CC Mason last year, he made it clear that his current priority is his daughter and his charity work.
“No, not at the moment,” he said when asked if he was dating.
“I’m pretty focused on my daughter and the foundation for the kids.”
That foundation — RennerVation — supports children in foster care and those considered at risk, a cause close to Renner’s heart.
Despite the difficult journey, Renner seems to have found a sense of peace — not just with his past, but with his role as a father and advocate.
From courtroom headlines to heartfelt co-parenting, Jeremy Renner’s story is a powerful reminder that healing and growth are always possible — even under Hollywood’s harsh spotlight.
