Cheryl Tweedy has reportedly been left “heartbroken” by the release of Liam Payne’s final TV project, Building The Band, which premiered on Netflix this week. The show was filmed shortly before Liam’s tragic death following a fall from a balcony in Buenos Aires last year, and serves as the singer’s final onscreen appearance.
The emotional impact of the show’s release has reportedly weighed heavily on Cheryl, 42, who shares an 8-year-old son, Bear, with the late One Direction star.
“It is very sad for Cheryl. She’s very proud that Liam’s final project is now available for the world to see, but obviously it’s heartbreaking, too,” a source told the Mirror. “It’s a poignant reminder… of how much more Liam could have done with his life. But that potential was tragically cut short.”
A Mother’s Worry for Bear
Beyond her own grief, Cheryl is said to be concerned about how the show — and its emotional content — could affect Bear.
“He had so much going for him, as well as being a devoted father to Bear,” the insider added. “It’s another reason why Cheryl wanted to continue with her own TV career — to show Bear that there is life after losing Liam… that he can be strong and still dream big.”
Cheryl and Liam dated between 2016 and 2018, maintaining a close co-parenting relationship after their split. Cheryl has kept much of Bear’s life private, but insiders say she’s focused on raising him in an emotionally supportive environment.
A Touching Tribute on Screen
Building The Band, hosted by AJ McLean, includes Liam as a guest judge in later episodes. The series opens with a heartfelt tribute from AJ:
“When we came together to film Building The Band, we never imagined we’d soon be saying goodbye to our friend, Liam Payne. Through his presence, we see his deep love for music and his unwavering commitment to helping others find their voice.”
“It’s through that spirit that we dedicate this series to Liam and his family.”
Fans have taken to social media to share their love and sorrow, with many praising Liam’s final appearance as a testament to his talent, warmth, and passion for music.
As Building The Band streams to a global audience, it not only honours Liam Payne’s artistic legacy but also reminds the world — and Cheryl — of the immeasurable loss his passing has left behind.
