Music producer Benny Blanco has confessed he’s so deep into his catalogue that he often forgets which songs he’s actually made — sometimes having to Shazam his own tracks just to realise, “Oh wait, that’s mine!”
Speaking on the Therapuss podcast, the 37-year-old hitmaker revealed:
“Sometimes I’m in a restaurant and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, this song’s so good.’ I Shazam it… and it’s my own song!”
With a discography that spans over hundreds of songs in the past 16 years, it’s no wonder Blanco struggles to keep track. His resume includes hits with Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Rihanna, and Kesha, among many others.
“It’s like asking [host] Jake Shane to name every guest he’s ever had on this podcast,” Benny joked. “I’m old. I can’t remember anything!”

Wedding on Hold for Benny and Selena
Benny also opened up about his relationship with Selena Gomez, revealing that the pair are “excited”about their upcoming wedding, but haven’t gotten around to planning it.
“We got engaged and then we were filming music videos for our album, then it’s holidays… and now it’s promo season,” he said. “We’ve both been working so much. We just need to chill.”

Late to the Party: Benny Had Never Watched Selena’s Hit Show
Despite dating a former Disney star, Benny admitted he had never seen Selena’s show, Wizards of Waverly Place — not until after they started dating.
“I knew she was a kid star… but I’d never seen any of it. Before the reboot [Wizards Beyond Waverly Place], I asked her to show me what it was about and she was like, ‘What?!’”
Even more surprising? Benny didn’t know who the Jonas Brothers were until their 2019 comeback hit “Sucker”.
“I’d heard the name, but I’d never actually heard a song. I had no idea she even dated Nick Jonas!”
