Nicki Minaj Demands Jay-Z “Settle This Karmic Debt,” Claims He Owes Her Up to $200M

Nicki Minaj isn’t holding back — and this time, her target is none other than rap mogul Jay-Z.

In a fiery series of tweets posted Tuesday (July 8), the Anaconda hitmaker claimed that Hov owes her between $100 million and $200 million stemming from their early partnership in his streaming platform, TIDAL.

“We’ve Calculated About $100–200 Million So Far…”

Nicki, one of the original artists involved in launching TIDAL back in 2015, was reportedly granted 3% equity in the company in exchange for exclusive releases and promotional support.

However, things took a turn in 2021, when Jay-Z sold the majority stake of TIDAL to Jack Dorsey’s Square (now Block, Inc.) for $302 million. Minaj alleges she was only offered $1 million from the deal — a fraction of what she believes she’s owed.

“We’ve calculated about 100–200MM so far,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “#JayZ call me to settle this karmic debt. It’s only collecting more interest.

You still in my TOP 5 tho. Let’s get it n****.”

She didn’t stop there.

Giving Back to the Barbz

Minaj also pledged to use the alleged unpaid earnings to support her loyal fanbase, the Barbz, through her philanthropic work.

“I’m going to use some of the money #JayZ owes me to send some of my Barbz to college, pay their school fees and student loans via my #StudentOfTheGame charity.”

This aligns with Minaj’s long-standing commitment to education; she previously paid tuition and student loans for dozens of fans in 2017.

Jay-Z, Roc Nation, and Politics?

Nicki also threw in a pointed jab regarding Desiree Perez, CEO of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, referencing her 2021 presidential pardon by Donald Trump.

“So wait. Jay-Z had Not Like Us playing at the Super Bowl after his CEO was pardoned by President Trump?????”

She even called out President Joe Biden for posting Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us — the now-infamous Drake diss that played during this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, curated by Roc Nation.

“President Biden posting Not Like Us after Desirat [Desiree] was pardoned by President Trump is so (sic)…”

The Fallout

Minaj’s comments have reignited conversation around equity deals in the music business and artist compensation during tech acquisitions.

While Jay-Z has yet to respond publicly, the situation adds another layer to hip-hop’s ongoing power struggles — where music, money, and politics intersect.

For now, the Barbz are watching, receipts in hand, as their Queen demands justice — with interest.
