Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will be sentenced on October 3, 2025, following his recent conviction on federal charges related to prostitution transport violations.

The 56-year-old music mogul was acquitted of more serious allegations including sex trafficking and racketeering, but was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution—a violation of the federal Mann Act, which mandates detention upon conviction.

Diddy’s legal team proposed the sentencing date in a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian, with both prosecutors and probation officers agreeing to the schedule, according to People magazine. The judge approved the timeline, setting September 19 as the deadline for the defense’s sentencing memo and September 26 for the government’s response.

A brief telephone conference between lawyers for both sides took place on Tuesday, without Diddy or the judge present.

Diddy is currently being held at Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn, and Judge Subramanian maintained his pre-trial denial of bail, stating Combs had not shown he poses no danger to others.

“For present purposes, the defendant is unable to meet his burden to show lack of danger to any person or the community with clear and convincing evidence,” the judge noted.

Despite the circumstances, Combs’ lawyer Marc Agnifilo says the rap icon was greeted with a standing ovation upon his return to jail, with inmates seeing his partial acquittal as a rare win against the federal government.

“They all said, ‘We never get to see anyone who beats the government,’” Agnifilo told People.

The attorney revealed Diddy is doing “okay” emotionally and has been reflecting deeply on his life:

“He realises he has flaws like everyone else that he never worked on. He burns hot in all matters… there’s no amount of fame or fortune that can erase those flaws.”

Diddy now faces up to 20 years in prison, with sentencing hinging on his violation of the Mann Act—a 1919 law originally aimed at preventing the interstate transport of women for “immoral purposes.” The law was later revised in 1986 to be gender-neutral and to focus on criminal sexual activity.

As the sentencing date approaches, all eyes will be on the courtroom to see what consequences await one of hip-hop’s most influential—and now controversial—figures.
