DC Studios boss James Gunn has revealed that the script for The Batman Part II is officially done — and according to him, it’s already shaping up to be a hit.
While attending the world premiere of Superman in Los Angeles on Monday night (July 7), Gunn was asked by ScreenRant if he had read the latest draft of Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated sequel. His response? A brief but enthusiastic: “It’s great!”
Though he didn’t go into any plot details, Gunn’s beaming reaction and swift departure from the red carpet interview say it all — things are looking good for the next chapter in Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight saga.
This update comes after Gunn shared last month that he was eagerly awaiting the script, teasing that Reeves was deep into writing and that he was “totally excited” to dive in.
Back in June, Gunn told Entertainment Weekly:
“We feel really good about it. Matt’s excited. I talk to Matt all the time. I’m totally excited about it. So we can’t wait to read the scripts.”
At the time, Gunn also defended Reeves from online pressure, saying fans needed to be patient.
“People should get off Matt’s nuts… Let the guy write the screenplay in the amount of time he needs to write it,” he said, adding that quality takes time and that Reeves doesn’t “owe” fans instant updates.
The Batman Part II was initially slated for a 2026 release but was delayed to October 2027 to give the director more time to fine-tune the story.
For now, plot details remain tightly under wraps, but with the script complete and Gunn giving it an early thumbs-up, DC fans have good reason to be hyped.
