It looks like not everyone was rooting for Sean “Diddy” Combs to go down for good.
Following his July 2 acquittal on sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges, the 55-year-old music mogul reportedly received a standing ovation from fellow inmates upon returning to Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. According to his attorney Marc Agnifilo, prisoners were in awe of the rare legal victory, reportedly telling Combs:
“We never get to see anyone who beats the government.”
Still Behind Bars
Despite the courtroom win, Diddy remains in jail on separate prostitution-related convictions, which could keep him locked up for years. Judge Arun Subramanian denied his bail request back in 2024, and his next court date is set for October 3, when he will be sentenced.
“He’s doing okay,” Agnifilo told People.
“He realizes he has flaws like everyone else that he never worked on… no amount of fame or fortune can erase them.”
Cassie Urges Court to Keep Him Detained
Adding more pressure to the legal drama is a letter sent to the court by Combs’ ex, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura. Through her attorney, she urged the court to deny Diddy’s release before sentencing, citing fears for her own safety and the safety of other witnesses.
The letter stated:
“Ms. Ventura believes that Mr. Combs is likely to pose a danger to the victims who testified in this case, including herself, as well as to the community.”
A Long Road Ahead
Diddy has been in custody since September 2024, following high-profile raids on his homes in Los Angeles and Miami. Though he may have dodged some of the most serious charges, the road ahead remains uncertain, with his fate now hanging on the October sentencing.
Even behind bars, it seems the Bad Boy Records founder still commands attention — but this time, it’s from a captive audience.
