Pop sensation Ava Max has officially cancelled her highly-anticipated Don’t Click Play Tour, which was set to kick off this September across North America, the UK, and Europe.
The Sweet but Psycho hitmaker took to Instagram Stories to explain that the decision — though heartbreaking — was necessary.
“Pushing back my tour is the most difficult decision I’ve had to make,” the 31-year-old singer wrote.
“But when I perform for you, it has to be of a standard that I’m happy with, and it’s just not there yet.”
Perfection or Nothing
The tour was meant to support her upcoming album Don’t Click Play, dropping August 22, and would have included 15 shows across Europe and the UK after wrapping a North American leg.
But for Ava, delivering anything less than her best is out of the question.
“Being on stage is my favourite thing in the world,” she continued.
“In order to put on a show that you all deserve, I need more time. I promise you it will be worth the wait.”
More Comfortable on Tour — But Ava Still Needs Her Quiet Time
Ava has always been open about how much she loves performing. During a chat on The Kelly Clarkson Show, she revealed she actually thrives in the fast-paced world of touring.
“I really thrive through the chaos, so I’m actually more comfortable on tour than at home,” she said.
Still, before hitting the stage, she insists on having her signature “Ava time” — a few minutes of calm before the storm.
“Everyone’s putting my wires on, my mic pack, everything… and then I have to have two minutes to myself where I meditate and close my eyes to remember my name and what I’m singing.”
What’s Next for Ava Max?
While fans are definitely disappointed, Ava’s message makes one thing clear: she’s coming back stronger. The new album is still on track for its August release, and with more time to polish her show, the reimagined tour promises to be everything her fans have been hoping for — and more.
Stay tuned for new dates and updates directly from Ava. One thing’s for sure: she’s not playing around.
