Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Tems is using her voice for more than chart-topping hits — she’s now using it to create space for African women in music. The singer has officially launched The Leading Vibe Initiative, a bold, grassroots platform designed to uplift, equip, and amplify female creativesacross the African music industry — from singers and songwriters to producers and engineers.
“From No Roadmap to Building One for Others”
Sharing the news on Instagram, Tems wrote:
“Today, I’m so proud to launch The Leading Vibe. From my self-taught journey with no roadmap, I created this initiative to support African women in music, those breaking barriers, building boldly, and leading the next wave.”
Tems’ story is one of resilience. She carved her own path in an industry where women, especially those behind the scenes, are often sidelined. Now, she’s creating the support system she never had — and giving women the tools to not just participate, but lead.
Lagos Is the First Stop
Set to debut August 8–9 in Lagos, the first Leading Vibe experience will bring together Nigerian women aged 18–35 for two days of immersive workshops, masterclasses, and panel sessions. The program promises:
• Hands-on training
• Mentorship from seasoned industry professionals
• Access to production tools
• Networking opportunities
• A safe space for creativity and collaboration
Whether you’re a bedroom producer, aspiring engineer, or a budding hitmaker — this initiative is for you.
The Mission Is Bigger Than Music
Tems made it clear: this movement isn’t just about stardom — it’s about representation, resources, and real change. The music industry across Africa is growing fast, but women, particularly those behind the scenes, still face major obstacles. The Leading Vibe Initiative is her way of breaking those barriers — with plans to expand beyond Nigeria to other African countries soon.
“This is for the ones who believe. The ones who dare to be different. The ones with a dream to be seen and a voice that deserves to be heard.”
