Dave Bautista may be trading powerbombs for punches once again—this time on the big screen.
According to Deadline, the former WWE superstar-turned-Hollywood heavyweight has received an offer to join the sequel to Amazon’s hit action film Road House. While nothing is official yet, Amazon MGM Studios is eyeing Bautista for a major role alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, who is set to reprise his role as Dalton, the no-nonsense bouncer with a UFC background.
A Sequel with Serious Momentum
The upcoming sequel will once again be directed by Guy Ritchie, with a script from Will Beall(Aquaman, Training Day TV series). The first Road House reboot, which premiered on Prime Video in 2024, became a streaming juggernaut, pulling in over 50 million viewers in just its first two weekends and hitting 80 million globally within eight weeks. It holds the title as Amazon’s most-watched original film at the time of release.
Bringing Bautista onboard would only solidify the franchise’s action credibility. Known for his roles in Guardians of the Galaxy, Dune, and Knock at the Cabin, Bautista continues to prove he’s more than muscle—he’s got range, presence, and serious box office pull.
No Return to the Ring
Though fans may dream of a WWE comeback, Bautista has shut that door firmly. The 55-year-old retired from professional wrestling after a farewell match against Triple H at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, and he’s made it clear he won’t be stepping back into the squared circle.
“I would only ruin that special farewell moment,” he said in past interviews, acknowledging that while he misses the adrenaline rush, he’s moved on from the ring for good.
