Nigerian artist Dice Ailes has publicly voiced his frustration with Sony Music, accusing the global record label of blocking the release and distribution of his new music—even after their contract ended.
In a candid statement, Dice revealed that while he once had a long-running business relationship with Sony Music, the two parties mutually ended their deal last year due to creative and financial stagnation.
“I have been in business with Sony Music for years,” he explained, “and sometime last year, we mutually agreed to terminate the contract because progress was stagnated and also we didn’t get the kind of investments we were expecting.”
But even with the deal off the table, Dice says the label is still restricting him, making it hard for him to move forward independently.
“Unfortunately, we still have some restrictions from that deal that are affecting the flow of things—our marketing processes and investments for my company,” he said. “I was just really tired.”
Fans have been vocal about wanting new music, and Dice says 2024 was meant to be his big return. However, the label’s lingering influence has delayed those plans—prompting him to air his grievances online.
“The fans have been clamoring for new music from me for so long. And 2024 is just so important to me, for the fans to get the best of me. So out of frustration, I had to go on social media to call out Sony Music.”
