Sean “Diddy” Combs has been dealt a setback in his legal battle as a judge denied his request to delay his upcoming sex trafficking and racketeering trial. The ruling was made on Friday, April 18, 2025, by US District Judge Arun Subramanian, who stated that the request was filed too close to the trial’s scheduled start next month.
The trial is set to begin with jury selection on May 5, with opening statements expected to follow the week after. Combs, who has pleaded not guilty to five criminal counts—including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution—has maintained that all sexual activity described by prosecutors was consensual.
Combs’ legal team argued that more time was needed to respond to new charges and to access emails from one of the alleged victims. However, the court ruled that the new charges were not significantly different from the existing ones, ultimately deciding against granting a delay.
Currently, Sean Combs remains in jail in Brooklyn, where he is being held without bail as he prepares for the high-profile trial.
