The legal drama between Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez is far from over.
Now, even behind bars, Lanez is facing new legal heat. According to a motion filed Wednesday, Megan’s attorneys are urging the court to hold the Canadian rapper — currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan in 2020 — in contempt of court for his behavior during a recent jailhouse deposition in her civil lawsuit.
The deposition, meant to be part of ongoing civil proceedings, reportedly spiraled into chaos almost immediately.
Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is accused of:
• Feigning ignorance of simple terms,
• Mocking Megan’s attorney’s appearance,
• And pretending the video equipment was malfunctioning — despite prison staff confirming everything was working fine.
“Mr. Peterson made a mockery of the proceedings,” Megan’s legal team stated. “Nothing short of a contempt finding and meaningful sanctions will deter Mr. Peterson from continuing to abuse the process.”
As a result of his alleged antics, the deposition was cut short, derailing what was supposed to be a key part of the case.
On Thursday, Judge Cecilia Altonaga responded by giving Lanez until April 30 to explain himself:
“Daystar Peterson is ordered to show cause why he should not be held in contempt of court for violating the court’s order authorizing his deposition.”
This development marks another tense chapter in the high-profile legal battle between the two artists, years after the 2020 shooting that shocked fans and reshaped the careers of both stars.
