The incident happened just hours before the Met Gala, as fans gathered outside the hotel hoping to catch glimpses of their favorite stars. Rocky, dressed casually in a black hoodie, jeans, and boots, was running late and found himself stuck outside the crowd barricades. In a rush to make it to his hotel room, he jumped over the steel fence — using Maddy’s shoulder for balance — and unintentionally knocked off her glasses in the process.
Speaking candidly, Rocky explained:
“I was gonna be late for the Met Gala. I was trying to get in my room, and this poor young little lady, man, I didn’t even know that I messed up her glasses.”
He added a heartfelt apology directly to Maddy:
“To whoever that young lady was — again, I apologize. I’m so sorry. I ain’t mean to do that, sweetheart. My fault.”
The moment quickly went viral at the time, with Maddy herself posting a selfie of her crooked glasses on Twitter, writing, “ASAP Rocky just literally jumped over me,” and later adding, “Rocky tapped my shoulder and was like ‘sweetheart I need to get through’ and I went ‘no’ and then he just shoved.”
