South African pop sensation Tyla is laughing all the way to the charts—and now, apparently, through a conspiracy theory or two.
In a recent interview with Nylon magazine, the 23-year-old Grammy winner addressed a growing corner of the internet that’s convinced she’s not just a chart-topper but a secret agent of the CIA and the Illuminati. Her reaction? Classic Tyla.
“I’m apparently a CIA agent. I’m an undercover agent in the Illuminati trying to divert people’s minds from the New World Order,” she said with a laugh. “I’m not even mad about that one.”
Rising Star, Real Struggles
Tyla’s meteoric rise to international stardom hasn’t come without its emotional toll. She admitted that the speed of her success often left her feeling dissociated and anxious.
“I would feel like I’m just watching these amazing things happen to me. I worried that one day all I worked for might be taken away.”
But she’s learning to let go, lean into her artistry, and trust the journey.
“I just want to know that I lived this life doing whatever I wanted to do, without worrying about what people thought I should be doing.”
On Vulnerability and Her Debut Album
Tyla also opened up about learning to be more vulnerable, especially in her music. She reflected on her deeply personal track “To Last”, a song inspired by heartbreak that she initially pretended wasn’t about her.
“I made it like it was about my sister or my friend. But it’s something really deep for me — I literally sang that in the shower.”
And though she prefers to keep her private life under wraps, she acknowledged that being open has helped her form a deeper connection with her fans — the Tygers.
“You have to be vulnerable in order to give the best art.”
From CIA rumors to heartfelt confessions, Tyla continues to show that she’s not just on the radar— she’s redefining what it means to rise, shine, and keep it real in the spotlight.
