Afrobeats star Skales has stirred conversation online after boldly claiming that Nigeria has a lower crime rate than the UK—thanks to the fear of jungle justice.
During a recent chat on Just Vibes, the singer explained that many criminals in Nigeria think twice before committing crimes because they know the consequences could be brutal.
“There’s lesser crime in Nigeria compared to the UK because criminals know they could be burned alive if caught. That fear keeps a lot of people in check,” he said.
However, Skales was quick to clarify that he doesn’t endorse jungle justice, acknowledging that it’s an extrajudicial practice and not something to be encouraged.
The “Shake Body” crooner also spoke on the evolution of Afrobeats, saying it can’t be boxed into one sound. According to him, Afrobeats is more of an umbrella term than a rigid genre—allowing artists the freedom to experiment and express themselves in unique ways.
