Nigerian content creator Ijoba Lande has tendered a heartfelt apology to Funke Akindele following the circulation of a viral video that sparked controversy online.
In the now-viral clip, Ijoba was heard saying he was paid only N90k while working on Funke’s movie set, which triggered backlash from fans and stirred conversations around how top filmmakers treat upcoming talents.
However, in a follow-up video, the skit maker appeared visibly emotional and in tears as he prostrated to publicly beg the actress, clarifying that the viral clip had been edited maliciously.
According to him, his original message was taken out of context.
“They cut and join it. That’s not what I meant,” he said, sobbing. “I’m deeply sorry to Funke Akindele. I didn’t mean to disrespect her.”
The video has since drawn sympathy from fans and colleagues, many of whom have urged the public to stop spreading edited clips that could damage reputations.
Funke Akindele, who is yet to respond publicly, has been known for uplifting rising entertainers through her blockbuster film projects.
