Singer Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, have been found guilty of fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud in a federal trial, concluding a case involving over $1 million in fraudulent transactions.
House Arrest & Upcoming Sentencing
The 35-year-old musician, known for hits like “Beautiful Girls”, has been placed under house arrestwith electronic monitoring. In contrast, his mother has been taken into custody due to concerns that she poses a flight risk.
As part of his bail conditions, Kingston must provide:
✅ A $500,000 surety bond (secured by a home)
✅ $200,000 in cash
Their sentencing is set for July 11, 2025.
How They Were Convicted
The trial, which began on March 24, ended on March 28 with a swift 3.5-hour jury deliberation. Prosecutors presented evidence that Kingston and Turner defrauded:
• Multiple jewelers
• A high-end car dealership
• A luxury TV installation company
One of the victims, Fort Lauderdale jeweler Moshe Edery, testified that Kingston never completed a $285,000 payment, damaging his credibility.
Defense Argument Falls Short
Kingston’s defense argued there was no clear intent to commit fraud and claimed some victims were reimbursed. However, prosecutors pointed to fraudulent wire transfers Turner sent to secure high-value items without actually paying for them.
