Kanye West, now known as Ye, has once again found himself at the center of controversy after posting a swastika symbol as the alleged cover art for his new album. The shocking post on X (formerly Twitter) left fans horrified, with many accusing the rapper of seeking attention through controversy.
Backlash Over Offensive Album Art
Ye shared an image of a red swastika on a black background, claiming it would be his new album cover. The response was swift and overwhelmingly negative, with social media users expressing disgust and outrage. Some even pointed out that such imagery could be banned in certain countries, particularly in Europe, due to its connection to Nazi Germany.

Kanye’s Attempt to Justify the Symbol
Following the backlash, Kanye attempted to defend his use of the swastika, stating:
“WHAT’S MORE HATEFUL – THE CONTENT OR USING THE SWASTIKA SYMBOL THAT ORIGINALLY MEANT WELL BEING?”
Ye is likely referencing the symbol’s ancient origins in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, where it once represented good fortune and well-being before being co-opted by the Nazis in the 1930s. However, given the historical weight of the symbol, his justification did little to calm public outrage.
Pattern of Controversial Behavior
This latest stunt is not the first time Kanye has faced backlash over Nazi-related imagery. He was previously dropped by his talent agency and lost multiple business deals after making anti-Semitic remarks. He even attempted to sell t-shirts featuring a swastika and the code “HH-01”—believed to be a reference to “Heil Hitler”—before the merchandise was taken down.
Adidas Distances Itself Further from Kanye
West’s controversial past statements and actions led to Adidas cutting ties with him in 2022. The brand recently sold off its remaining Yeezy stock, officially severing its association with the rapper as of March 5, 2025.
New Song Features North West & Diddy’s Son
Amid the controversy, Kanye also released a new song, “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine”, featuring:
• His daughter North West
• Sean “Diddy” Combs
• Diddy’s son, King Combs
• Chicago artist Jasmine Williams
The song includes a voice recording from Diddy, who is currently awaiting trial in Brooklyn. In the recording, Combs appears to thank Kanye for his support and for “taking care of his children” while he remains in custody.
What’s Next for Kanye?
With this latest controversial post, Kanye has once again sparked debate and outrage, leading many to question whether this was a publicity stunt or a serious artistic statement. While he continues to push boundaries, it remains to be seen whether his new album will move forward with the offensive imagery or if he will walk back his decision under public pressure.
