Timini Egbuson’s Reel Love Sets Record as Highest-Grossing Nollywood Film for Three Consecutive Weekends

Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson is riding high as his Valentine’s Day movie, Reel Love, has continued its record-breaking streak, becoming the highest-grossing Nollywood film for three consecutive weekends with a whopping ₦223.7 million at the box office.

Timini shared the exciting news on Instagram, expressing gratitude to fans for their unwavering support.

“This project is a miracle. One day I’ll tell the story. For now, all glory be to God, the amazing people I have in my corner and the fans/supporters that have showed up and showed out for me. #ReelLove still going 🔥,” he wrote.

Reel Love, co-produced by FilmOne Studios and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, made a grand entrance with ₦99.3 million during its opening weekend from February 14 to 16. Within just five days, the romantic comedy crossed ₦107.5 million, setting the pace as the first Nollywood film in 2025 to surpass ₦200 million in just 10 days.

The movie tells the story of Tomide Jobi (played by Timini), a popular relationship influencer who clashes with a strong-willed woman, Rita Monday. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Funke AkindeleBimbo AdemoyeDakore AkandeHermes IyeleEfa Iwara, and Chico Aligwekwe.

Despite the dominance of Hollywood’s Captain America at the box office, Reel Love has held its own, outperforming local competitors like Summer Rain and Something About the Briggs.

With fans still flocking to cinemas, Reel Love is on track to become one of the highest-grossing Nollywood films of all time.
