As The Wheel of Time gears up for its highly anticipated return on March 13, showrunner Rafe Judkins is opening up about the fantasy series’ future — and it’s good news for fans hoping for more seasons.
The hit Prime Video series, based on the best-selling novels by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, has been a fan favorite since its debut in 2021. However, with no official confirmation of a Season 4 renewal yet, speculation has been swirling about how long the show will last.
How Many Seasons Will The Wheel of Time Have?
In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, Judkins revealed that the upcoming Season 3 will definitely not be the final chapter.
“I can see versions of the show that are six or seven seasons,” he shared. “Part of what makes the series great is the length — it’s one of the reasons people love the books.”
However, the showrunner admitted that in today’s streaming landscape, long-running series are becoming rare.
“I’m always realistic… If Amazon asked us to wrap it up in Season 4, I would have to create a satisfying ending. But the truth is, the story doesn’t lend itself well to being rushed.”
What to Expect in Season 3
Judkins reassured fans that his ultimate goal is to give the show the same powerful ending that Jordan delivered in the books — no matter how long it takes.
Season 3 will dive deeper into the world of the Aes Sedai, Darkfriends, and Dragon Reborn, with the battle between light and dark intensifying.

As of now, Amazon MGM Studios hasn’t officially renewed the series for a fourth season. However, Judkins’ comments suggest that he’s hopeful for a multi-season journey — especially with 15 books worth of material to adapt.
