Hollywood sweetheart Zendaya is officially joining the Shrek universe as the iconic ogre’s teenage daughter in the highly anticipated Shrek 5.
The first teaser trailer for the movie dropped on Thursday, February 27, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect from the fifth installment of the beloved animated franchise.
Zendaya Makes Her Shrek Debut
In the short but hilarious teaser, Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) and Donkey (Eddie Murphy) ask the Magic Mirror who the “fairest of them all” is — only to be greeted with some cringey TikTok-style videos of Shrek posing in sunglasses and showing off six-pack abs.
The moment takes an unexpected turn when Zendaya’s character — Shrek and Fiona’s teenage daughter — walks in and disgustedly says:
“Ew, Dad!”
Meanwhile, Fiona (Cameron Diaz) is a little more… intrigued, replying:
“Oh, mama like-y!”
Zendaya’s Longtime Love for Shrek
Zendaya, who was just 4 years old when the first Shrek movie came out in 2001, has always been vocal about her love for the franchise.
Back in 2017, the actress tweeted:
“I watch Shrek too often in my adulthood.”
