Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King continues to roar at the box office, crossing the $700 million mark globally in its tenth week.
On Monday, February 24, the film added $180,000 domestically, bringing its U.S. total to $245.6 million. Internationally, it pulled in $650,000 across 53 markets, pushing its overseas haul to $454.4 million. The film is now expected to finish between $710 million and $720 million worldwide—a stronger run than many anticipated.
A Prequel-Sequel Success Story
Directed by Barry Jenkins, Mufasa serves as both a prequel and sequel to the 2019 remake of The Lion King. It explores Mufasa’s origin story while continuing Simba’s reign as king.
The cast features returning stars Donald Glover, Beyoncé, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and John Kani, along with new additions like Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Mads Mikkelsen, and Blue Ivy Carter, who makes her feature film debut.
