Fresh off securing a legal victory for A$AP Rocky, attorney Joe Tacopina sat down with The Breakfast Club on Monday (Feb. 24) to discuss various topics, including Diddy’s ongoing sex trafficking and racketeering case.
During the interview, Tacopina revealed that he was approached to look into Diddy’s case but declined due to his close ties with Roc Nation and Jay-Z.
“I represent Roc Nation; a lot of people in Roc I’m very close with,” he explained. “Jay and [Roc Nation president] Desiree Perez, who’s the most amazing, like, bomb of a boss. Jay is amazing. You know, Jay Brown, all those people are just, like, they really are special, special people.”
Tacopina also claimed that Jay-Z and Diddy are not as close as people think.
“That’s sort of family to me, and I don’t think they see eye to eye with P. Diddy,” he added.
Charlamagne Tha God pressed him on this statement, prompting Tacopina to clarify:
“Everyone wants a picture with P. Diddy, at one time or another when they went to a party. But when things got real, years and years ago…”
Jay-Z’s Civil Lawsuit Dismissed Amid Diddy’s Ongoing Case
This revelation comes just days after a civil lawsuit against Jay-Z and Diddy was voluntarily dismissed. The lawsuit, filed in December 2023, accused the two hip-hop moguls of drugging and assaulting a 13-year-old girl in 2000.
Jay-Z swiftly denied the allegations, calling them “extortionate” and “laughable” in an Instagram post after the case was dismissed.
“The frivolous, fictitious, and appalling allegations have been dismissed,” Jay-Z wrote. “This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere.”
Meanwhile, Diddy remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, awaiting trial in May. If convicted on all charges, he faces life in prison. Prosecutors allege that he ran a criminal enterprise focused on sex trafficking, violence, and intimidation.
Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, has called the case “unjust”, stating that his client was fully cooperating with authorities and had moved to New York in anticipation of the charges.
“These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court,” Agnifilo said.
The case against Diddy continues to unfold, with new details emerging as his trial approaches.
