Social media critic Vincent Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has accused on-air personality Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, aka Nedu Wazobia, of fraud over an alleged N85 million scholarship fundraising scam.
According to VDM, the controversy began when Nedu hosted comedian Deeone on The Honest Bunch podcast, where Deeone claimed VDM was gay. The feud escalated, but VDM claims he could not let it slide because he “hates fraud.”
The Alleged Scholarship Scam
VDM alleged that Nedu partnered with a UK-based man offering scholarships through the Metropolitan School of Business and Management. The OAP reportedly agreed to be the face of the programme to help Nigerian youths secure scholarships.
However, when asked to propose a budget, Nedu allegedly inflated costs and proposed an N85 million fundraising gala, including:
🔹 N500k each for 10 influencers
🔹 N3.5 million for digital marketing
🔹 N7 million for 20 billboards
🔹 N2 million for video production
🔹 N96k each for 11 media houses
🔹 Other costs, including food and drinks
VDM claimed that Nedu requested an upfront payment of N60 million and received N40 million initially, followed by N9.8 million, then N10.2 million.
What Went Wrong?
VDM accused Nedu of failing to use media houses for promotions. Instead, he reportedly enlisted Timaya, KCee, and politician Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour to endorse the programme.
During the event, Nedu allegedly displayed his personal account details instead of the UK school’s account details, raising suspicion. When confronted about media promotions and billboards, he reportedly became evasive.
VDM now vows to file a petition against Nedu, stating, “He will learn the hard way.”
As of now, Nedu Wazobia has not publicly responded to the allegations.
