Disney and Pixar’s highly anticipated sci-fi adventure Elio has been delayed again, though this time, it’s only by a week. The animated film, originally slated for June 13, 2025, will now hit theaters on June 20, 2025.
Why the Delay?
The shift moves Elio away from DreamWorks’ live-action How to Train Your Dragon remake, which was set to release on the same day. Now, Elio will share a release date with Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later—the long-awaited sequel to 28 Days Later.
This slight delay also spaces Elio out from Disney’s other major releases in 2025:

What’s Elio About?
The film follows Elio, a space-obsessed kid who unexpectedly gets abducted by aliens and taken to The Communiverse, an intergalactic organization of civilizations from across the universe. Mistaken for Earth’s leader, Elio must prove himself, navigate a world of bizarre extraterrestrials, and figure out where he truly belongs.

Final Thoughts
This isn’t Elio’s first delay—the movie was originally set for March 1, 2024, before being pushed to 2025. However, with Pixar’s strong track record, it’s safe to say the wait will be worth it.
